Innovating Special Education

We have designed a model to cultivate an environment where students achieve their dreams and become active members of their communities.

Igniting the future for students of different abilities!

Message from the Founder

I aim to equip students with the necessary skills to become active community participants. I want to see students working across different industries in a workforce that welcomes people with disabilities. I desire for them to have jobs that provide them with the ability to support themselves and live independently. True inclusion is a community where people with disabilities are part of it and not at the margins—a community where they work in government and private industries. A community where they work, socialize, and live their best life.

I treat every student as if they are my child and my goal is to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities.

Vision

Innovating special education services in school systems to improve outcomes for students with disabilities by providing evidence-based direct services to children and building the capacity of families by consulting, training, and facilitating workshops.

Mission

Take Flight aims to capacitate school systems to deliver sustainable, quality, and effective programming across the continuum for students with disabilities. And to empower families through increased education and awareness to help them navigate special education.

Meet Our Leadership Team

Lucy Cora Nazario, M.Ed, BCBA, LBA

Founder and CEO

Lucy studied Business Administration and believed that would be her career. However, her life changed significantly after having her first child. Her son began to have behavioral difficulties at a young age. Helping her child became Lucy’s primary focus. By first grade her son was being evaluated for special education services and was found eligible. After being a stay-at-home mom for 4 years and going through a difficult divorce she began searching for a job. Her experiences with her son opened the door to work at a school for students with autism and other disabilities. Once there, Lucy realized she found her calling—her passion. Now, Lucy has a Master’s in Special Education, a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration, and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Lucy is a champion of students with unique learning needs. She begins each day with the goal of making children’s lives better. She wants them to be part of the community and to live independently. Lucy’s ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities.
